Very good editing. I liked the music choice and i think it helped the video. I would have liked to see a little less close up/ zoomed camera work.. like long shots of the people playing tennis. You had a lot of b roll so that was nice to see
I assume everyone did not want to be on camera? I think I remember you pitching that. So I know why you were cutting off their heads in the frame, but I wish it would have been more still shots. It seemed like the camera was trying to follow the ball back and forth. That was too much I think. If you would have just let the camera be still I think that would have been more pleasing using cuts to show the ball going back and forth. I LOVED the camera work at the beginning showing all the detail shots. That was great.
I thought you guys used a lot of cool shots, but some of the shots didn't make sense. I really liked the first shot of the tennis ball where you can see the focus on the ground.
The idea was good, and the editing i believe saved the film from being a loss, however the camera work was lacking, a lot of the shots were out of focus, shaky or just plain out of the frame of what is going on. I think the best thing to fix what had been done would've been to pan out a tiny bit and pick up more of the frame. It just felt like we were missing everything.
The opening scene with the tennis audio worked extremely well. The subject seemed interesting but I did have some problems with the footage. The footage was formatted wrong which cause for a loss of information. I feel like there was more to be seen in each shot but it was cut out due to format size. I wasn't a fan of all the close up shots of torsos. I wanted to see more of people faces and their reactions to playing at the club. I just feel visually the project suffered. Also the audio that follows the tennis sounds is extremely soft. There is potential here.
It's always great to see or hear someone go on about what they love best, doing it and explaining in great detail. Evidently many people go there based on how many sound bit confessions. Points off for very shaky and jerking camera work. Swap that tripod for a more fluid one for future projects is my recommendation.
I'm confused on the camera work? The editing is done nicely.
ReplyDeleteI like the opening with B roll and the people playing in the background. Really cool
ReplyDeleteSweet doc. that was interesting
ReplyDeleteThe editing is done really well and I like that you have a lot of b roll to show the area.
ReplyDeleteA lot of good b roll of people actually playing, and also some nice close ups of the equipment.

ReplyDeleteThe opening sequence was visually interesting, I liked the way that each shot began out of focus and then gradually sharpened.
